What’s the difference between Regional and National Teams?

  • All players will be placed on a team based off of tryouts. These teams are split into Regional and National. Regional AND National teams will practice 2-3 times a week, depending on age group. Regional teams will attend regional tournaments in locations such as Cincinnati, Louisville, etc. National teams may attend regional events but will also attend the National Indoor Tournament and National Indoor Tournament Qualifiers (U16 + U19 only.)
  • Players on a National team are expected to attend most, if not all, of their team practices and are required to attend the team tournaments. If your player is unable to meet these standards, please reach out to us at stealthfieldhockey@gmail.com.
  • Regional team tournaments are optional, but encouraged! We ask that you let us know if your player is unable to attend so that we can make sure each team has enough players to safely field a team.

I think my player is too young and/or inexperienced to be on a team, do you offer anything for beginners?

  • If your player has any experience with field hockey and is between the ages of 9-11, we highly recommend they attend tryouts for the U12 age group and participate with a team this season. We will be offering an indoor clinic (dates TBD) that will be geared towards those players with zero experience and/or are under the age of 9, but this will not be appropriate for players with any experience over that age.

There are a lot of tournaments listed on this page, how do these work?

  • Each team will have at least one tournament opportunity this season. The tournaments listed below are all of the possibilities. National team players WILL attend the National Indoor Tournament, NIT Qualifiers or the National Indoor Festival, dependent on team placement. All tournaments and costs to attend will be communicated as soon as we possibly can.

My player is a goalkeeper, are there any additional details that differ from field players?

  • Goalies wanting to play competitively must try-out with the field players on the above dates. All goalies will practice with their teams and attend 1 skill day with our Goalie Coaches. Dates and times for the goalie sessions will be finalized when team practice schedules are confirmed. If your goalie does not have access to borrow a set of equipment from a school team or own their own, we are happy to let them borrow ours. THIS MUST BE COMMUNICATED WITH US BEFORE TRYOUTS so we can ensure everyone has the equipment they need.

I still have questions about the Indoor Season!

  • No problem! Please schedule a call with us to get all of your questions answered.
