Stealth Is Committed to Developing the Whole Field Hockey Player

The Stealth Difference

At Stealth Field Hockey, we're deeply committed to developing the whole player—physically, mentally, and emotionally. We believe in creating a supportive and inclusive community where every athlete, regardless of background or skill level, is given the opportunity to thrive.

Our holistic approach includes technical training, sports performance, mental health support, and nutrition education, because we know that strong, confident athletes are built from the inside out.

Our unique player-centered model ensures that no player is bigger than the club, and no club is bigger than the player.

We are here to cultivate a deep love for the game while preparing our athletes to compete at the highest level, putting Kentucky field hockey on the national map.

By honoring each player’s individual journey and fostering teamwork, we aim to develop confident, resilient young women who excel both on and off the field.

It is our honor to support them every step of the way. Meet Stealth’s leadership team and coaches.

The Stealth APPROACH

Together, the following components form the backbone of Stealth Field Hockey's holistic player development approach. Each player is supported in every area—technically, physically, mentally, and nutritionally—so they can reach their full potential both on and off the field.

How do we live out our mission?

  • Player focused on mastering field hockey stick handling, one of the core skills in Stealth Field Hockey's technical training program.

    Technical Training

Technical training focuses on the fundamental skills needed to excel in field hockey, including stick handling, ball control, passing, shooting, and tactical awareness. This training ensures that players not only improve their individual abilities, but also develop a deeper understanding of the game as a whole.

    How we help players:

Dedicated Technical Director: We have appointed a technical director responsible for overseeing coaches and the curriculum, ensuring all players are taught in a consistent, high-quality manner.

Skill Development: Each session is structured to maximize touches on the ball, allowing players to refine their techniques and get comfortable in high-pressure situations.

Club-wide Playing Style: We implement a consistent playing style across all levels of the club, so each player understands how to contribute to team success.

1:1 Coaching: Players receive personalized feedback, with coaches offering individual guidance to target specific areas for improvement.

  • Athletes participate in agility and strength exercises as part of Stealth Field Hockey's sports performance training.

    Sports Performance

Sports performance goes beyond technical skills and focuses on building the physical strength, endurance, and agility required to perform at a high level in competitive field hockey. This includes conditioning, bodyweight exercises, and agility drills that improve overall athleticism.

    How we help players:

Balanced Training Schedule: Players practice 3-4 times a week, incorporating sports performance into each session.

Conditioning Focus: Each practice includes at least 20 minutes of conditioning, ensuring that athletes are building stamina and fitness along with technical skills.

Agility and Strength Training: Norton Sports Health Performance & Wellness Center is excited to be partnering with Stealth Field Hockey. Our training sessions will consist of 3 training sessions per week. Each session will focus on a progressive total body approach to building overall athletic abilities, preventing injuries, and developing mental and physical confidence.

Holistic Physical Preparation: We emphasize the importance of both strength and agility, creating well-rounded athletes who are physically prepared to compete.

  • Stealth Field Hockey team session on mental resilience led by practitioners from Norton Healthcare.

    Mental Health Support

Mental health support ensures that players are mentally prepared for the challenges of competitive sports, helping them build resilience, confidence, and a positive mindset. It's about fostering emotional well-being both on and off the field.

How we help players in partnership with Norton Sports Health:

Sports Psychologists and Mental Health Coaches: We bring in mental health professionals to conduct mandatory player sessions throughout the season, giving athletes the tools to handle stress, competition pressure, and personal growth.

Confidence Building: Our sessions focus on helping players understand the value of mental toughness and self-belief, empowering them to overcome challenges in the game and in life.

Open Discussions: We create a safe space for players to talk about mental health challenges, fostering a supportive environment where they feel heard and valued.

  • Stealth Field Hockey nutrition education session explaining the importance of balanced food choices for performance.

    Nutrition Education

Nutrition education teaches players the importance of fueling their bodies properly to optimize performance, recovery, and overall health. This component emphasizes that what players eat directly affects how they feel and perform on the field.

How we help players in partnership with Norton Sports Health:

Nutrition as Fuel: We help players understand that food is fuel and that proper nutrition is key to sustaining energy, building muscle, and recovering after games and practices.

Education on Healthy Choices: We provide guidance on making balanced food choices, focusing on the importance of whole foods, hydration, and meal timing.

Integration with Sports Performance: Nutrition education is integrated with our sports performance program to ensure players know how to nourish their bodies for training and competition.

Holistic Approach to Health: By teaching athletes about nutrition, we support their physical development and help build lifelong healthy habits.
