What’s the difference between Regional and National Teams?

  • All players will be placed on a team based off of tryouts. These teams are split into Regional and National. Regional AND National teams will practice 2-3 times a week. Regional teams will attend regional tournaments in locations such as St. Louis, Louisville, Cincinnati, etc. National teams may attend regional events but will also attend the Regional Club Championships (U14-U19 only) as well as other National events in locations such as Tampa, Orlando, Virginia Beach, etc.
  • Players on a National team are expected to attend most, if not all, of their team practices and are required to attend the team tournaments. If your player is unable to meet these standards, please reach out to us at stealthfieldhockey@gmail.com.
  • Regional team tournaments are optional, but encouraged! We ask that you let us know if your player is unable to attend so that we can make sure each team has enough players to safely field a team.

My player is too young and/or inexperienced to be on a team, do you offer anything for beginners?

  • Yes! We are holding a 6 week Beginner’s Clinic this Spring that is perfect for players aged 6-12 who have either never played before or have limited experience playing outdoor field hockey. This clinic will cover the basic, fundamental skills needed for outdoor field hockey as well as rules comprehension and game strategy. Goalkeepers welcome!

There are a lot of tournaments listed on this page, how do these work?

  • Each team will have at least one tournament opportunity this season. The tournaments listed below are all of the possibilities. National team players WILL attend the Regional Cup OR the Regional Club Championships, dependent on team placement. All tournaments and costs to attend will be communicated as soon as we possibly can.
  • The Cardinal Classic is a warm-up tournament hosted by the University of Louisville March 25-26. THIS IS OPEN TO EVERYONE. If your player is interested in attending, please make sure to sign her up on our registration page. Cost to attend this tournament will be communicated once we know how many teams will attend.

I still have questions about the Spring Season!

  • No problem! Send us an email! stealthfieldhockey@gmail.com

Goalies

  • All goalies will practice with their teams and in addition attend 1 skill day per week with our goalie coaches.
